A blood gas is a more complete test (also known as ABG test), which measures acidity and oxygen levels and carbon dioxide in the blood of an artery in particular. During this test, the following will be monitored and measured.
* The pressure of oxygen in the blood and oxygen can move as smooth as the airspace of the lungs into the bloodstream.
* The pressure of dissolved carbon dioxide, carbon dioxide and bloodcan leave the human body.
* Acidity (pH) or the amount of hydrogen ions (H +) in the blood.
* The amount of bicarbonate in the blood.
* The amount of oxygen in the blood.
* The amount of hemoglobin in red blood cells that carry oxygen.
What is a blood gas?
This test is usually performed to verify the presence of patients with severe breathing problems and lung diseases such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), check whether patients are alwaysthe right amount of oxygen or need supplemental oxygen in the hospital, if the treatment is effective for lung diseases and to measure the level of acid-base balance in the blood of patients with heart failure or kidney failure, uncontrolled diabetes, infections or severe sleep disorders.
