Health is Our Priority: A Story of Community Leadership in Haiti

Every year, thousands of women die during pregnancy or due to complications from childbirth that could be easily treated. In Haiti, just one in four women or their partners practice a form of contraception. The rate of maternal mortality is the highest in the Western Hemisphere. To improve family planning services in Haiti, MSH, funded by USAID, is working to provide better health services in partnership with the Women's League of Cité Soleil. With training from MSH, the Women's League is organizing community outreach activities to promote family planning options.
