Laura Hershey, award of 10 of 13: "Independent Living Centers in the 80"

Laura Hershey of Denver, Colorado, talks about being disabled in the school system, the prevalence of images of piety, and disability issues nationally and internationally. Laura is nationally recognized for his activism and promotion of a wide range of disability rights and social justice. He serves on several committees related to health policy and is committed to continuing grassroots activism with groups such as ADAPT, Not Dead Yet, and the Coalition of Colorado Cross-Disability.In recognition of her activism, Laura was awarded the 1998 Chairman of the President of the Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities.
