Mamre Horses

Racing SA teamed up with State Vets to go into Mamre after the African Horse Sickness outbreak earlier this year. Staff from Racing SA, who run Kenilworth Quarantine Station and Health Technicians, have been going to Mamre on a daily basis since early August 2011. Our aim is to vaccinate all horses, donkey and mules against African Horse Sickness. We are also deworming, microchipping, dipping, giving vitamins and educating the community on how to care for their animals. Conditions have ranged from pouring rain, howling winds and blazing sunshine. Up to now, we have properly identified, treated and recorded over 200 horses with their owners details. This video is a brief collection of what we've been doing. (made by Rolene Roux)
